Cold storage ice problems solved

Munters have introduced the latest in the range of dehumidification products - the Munters IceDry®.

Euro Controls UK Ltd have partnered with Munters for some time now, working alongside them to provide evaporative cooling solutions for various applications such as data centres and large industrial premises.

In this case, cold stores operatives and manufacturers are having problems with controlling the level of ice that builds up over the evaporator, on the packaging within the units, and the floor where it can become quite slippery without proper floor grip.  In addition, fog builds up in the room making it difficult for operatives to actually see clearly when they are working - bringing health and safety issues up for managers and supervisors of the site.

Before using Munters IceDry in cold store - huge build up of ice and  fog

After using Munters IceDry dehumidifier in cold store - reduced ice and fog

So how does the unit work - and what are the main features and benefits of the Munters IceDry?

The benefits to be gained, by incorporating this technology into your cold store, are very significant.
By maintaining a low dew point environment within the area around the entrances to the cold store, Munters ensure
:

Limited or No frost & ice at cold store entrances This enables better access and ensures doors are able to close and operate more easily.

Stock stored around entrance areas will not suffer cases collapsing or be rejected because of ice build up.

Improved efficiency having a dry and visible working area, with doors operating correctly enables faster loading and unloading.

Reduction of ice build-up on evaporator coils reducing the frequency and need for defrosting, giving major savings on energy.

Improvement of product temperature and quality - having no frost of ice removes the latent load, enabling the freezing plant to concentrate on keeping the cold store at the correct temperature, with no fear of losing conditions.

Stock consistently held at constant temperatures - preventing deterioration in quality and rejection of product.

Improved appearance - having a frost  and ice-free working environment with no fogging present an improved appearance  for visiting customers.

Reduced maintenance costs: having less ice around means -

  1. A reduction in costly repairs to doors
  2. Reduction  in the need  to remove ice from evaporator coils, walls, floors
  3. Less collision damage caused by slippery floor
Here is the solution cold store operators have been looking for:
